Originally from Leicester, I studied for an undergraduate degree in Music at Cambridge University, having been awarded a three-year organ scholarship at Sidney Sussex College. During this time, I studied the organ with David Sanger, and continued my piano studies with Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music. At Cambridge, I accompanied and conducted the choir for broadcasts, tours and recordings, as well as the regular routine of evensong services. I also involved myself in several other projects, including recitals and opera. Since graduating last summer, I have been actively working in musical theatre, and recently completed a full UK Tour of The King and I.
I am delighted to have been offered the position of Director of Music, and am very much looking forward to starting the work at the end of August this year. One of my priorities will be to form a choir that takes part regularly in services, as well as assigning larger choral works for special services. Alongside this, I intend to work very closely with the children in the parish, leading to the formation of a designated choir for children. Furthermore, I will be taking a large role in the organ restoration project, organising educational workshops and concerts in conjunction with this, as well as developing further the recital programme at St John’s. I look forward to meeting you all in August!
