Followed by a short concert given by St John’s Musicians
Following the restoration of its historic organ, St John’s Notting Hill has a blossoming, high-quality music programme, with four Choral Scholars regularly and beautifully singing at services, accompanied by the restored organ played by the Organ Scholar. A favourite service for music lovers in particular is Choral Evensong, which usually occurs at St John’s on the first Sunday of each month at 6.30pm, lasting for about 45 minutes. The music is very lyrical and expressive in this service. Choral Evensongs at St John’s are frequently followed by short, free entry solo vocal concerts, of both religious and secular music. These concerts are given by one of the Choral Scholars, accompanied by the Director of Music, Tom Primrose. For this Choral Evensong, the Scholars and the Director of Music will each sing or play a piece of favourite music, and there will be a special guest singer from St John’s clergy. All are welcome and invited to attend.
