The Sacred Space Gallery
Following 1500 years of nearly total isolation from the West, recent events in Egypt have brought the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria to the forefront of Western news and social media. Although the Pharaonic, Greco - Roman and Islamic history of Egypt is widely known and well researched, Coptic Egypt is only beginning to receive attention from Western academia and from Copts engaged in the re-discovery and documentation of their own tradition and complex history. The exhibition Coptic Iconography seeks to broaden understanding and appreciation of Coptic spirituality through its beautiful iconographic and musical traditions.
There will be a concert of Coptic music held in collaboration with the Sacred Space Gallery, held at St John's Notting Hill, W11 2NN on Friday 16th October 2015, at 7.00pm.
Joseph Tawadros' burgeoning reputation as a major-league player and musical explorer has been well and truly burnished in the crucible of a New York studio. The latest episode in this indefatigable young man's inexplorable pursuit of musical adventure and excellence has yielded a dialogue of the highest calibre with Christian McBride (American jazz's top-rated double-bass player of recent years) and Mike Stern (one of the US's most esteemed jazz-rock guitarists). we are pleased to announce that Joseph will be joining the Coptic Ensemble for a rare concert at St John's Notting Hill.
Tickets will be available at the door
